Dating site

I signed up to C-date and within the first two weeks I realized this site was very poor and no one replied to any messages other than fake profiles. I decided before canceling to e-mail them and got nothing back, so went to cancel and was unable to - the link they said should be there was not. This seems to be the case with other people - check out trust pilot, where this site is full of other people saying this is a scam.

I ended up getting stung for another payment of £39.90 which I used chargeback to get the money back and hoped that would be the end of it.
I am now being chased by a debt collection agency in Luxembourg for £196.32 which is now getting scary.

I am not sure where to turn and would hate to pay as they have made it very hard to cancel but I also worry about this being a scam and the money going to possible criminal activity.
Any help would be appreciated.

Desired outcome: I would like the case dropped - I accept the first £9.90 has been lost as I did use the service but I am not happy paying anything more.

I haven't e-mailed "recently" but I have e-mailed and explained my case and situation and still you can sent the Debt collectors after me. This case was clearly something which could have been resolved easily and shouldn't have needed debt collectors. The fact that there are many other people with the same problem highlights the problem is not with the individual users but the site itself.

Simple solution - make the cancelation process as easy as the sign up process and this problem would go away, however it appears this set up has been created to catch people out and that is very poor indeed.

I have tried to deal with both yourselves and the collection company and neither of you are taking any notice or looking at this objectively.

I appreciate you refuse to post anything here but it does highlight there is no interest in a mutual resolution.

If C-date don't want to resolve this then I will make my next and final post containing all the evidence I have public as there are others who might find what I have useful.

I have already contacted you through this address and you did nothing except get a debt collection agency on to me. I am really not in a good place having been made redundant and then hit with a £200 bill because you made it difficult to cancel. I am also dealing with a very sick family member which is really heart breaking, so you can understand this needs to be sorted.

I have been speaking with Trading standards in the UK who are happy to help me put my case together if you wish to take this to court. They have advised me that I can argue this under the Misleading and aggressive commercial practices 2014.

I have enough screenshots to confirm this as well as post from other people who have had the same problem.

I am asking this case be closed as I paid the £9.90 for the first month which was absolute rubbish and didn't use the service after this period.

If you can reply asap as if this does go to court Trading Standards have asked for time to fully prepare our case.

I receive a letter from Themys & [censored] Rechtsanwälte GbR treating me if I don't pay more than 300 euro I try to log in to see if a ihave a subscription but I'm not allowed to log in I pay this and I still not allowed to log in to cancel and delete mine account please stop scanning me and stop treating me I paid already.

Dating web site

I am being hounded for £273.05 for signing up to a dating site called ‘C date’ that I realised was a scam as soon as I joined as the date said they were near Bristol where I live but then don’t seem to know anything about the place and its Geographical position amongst other alarm bells . I have since been sent legal letters asking for payment from lawyers Themys & [censored].

I attempted to cancel my subscription immediately after realising but there wasn’t an option to do this so I cancelled my card/ banking details when I realised Iso I wasn’t charged anymore for this corrupt service .

I have since found numerous similar accounts from others that have endured the same scenario.

This dating site is a complete con.

Desired outcome: For this company to cease with its intimidation and rising costs and basically escalating threats of further action.

Membership I didn’t want

I signed up for a one month 9.99. Nowhere did it say it was reoccurring billing and I was then changed another month at 39.99 I cancelled my PayPal as I couldn’t find anywhere to cancel on the site and I’ve now been sent a email for £49.99 for a service I have barely used and didn’t want to keep. I have tried to contact them but their website only presents with a payment required page so I can’t contact them

Termination of membership

They claimed that I would have a link to cancel my account after a couple of days after I joined posted on my page, after 2 weeks of the same message I had no option but to send a letter to cancel my membership.

6 weeks later I got an email claiming that I owed them money for a second month of membership, followed by threats of legal action.

This is obviously a scam site there were no real dates on the site, just fake profiles and bots. the only way to cancel is to send a letter or a fax.

Premium membership cancellation

I just signed up for a months trial for 9.90 and then it says it is going to automatically charge me £38 per month ongoing ..

This was not advertised during signing up..

I want to cancel my premium membership straight away.. you can have the 9.90 but there is no way i will be paying £38 per month… what worries me is that i have tried to cancel and there is nowhere to cancel on the website .. i am worried its a scam..

Premier membership

I signed up for the premier subscription by mistake, clicking on the wrong button. Completely by accident I have emailed, sent a letter via cancel.io posted to the headquarters. My worry is the bullying used, and the reviews. I have recently lost my father, which adds to the worry about this company. Even no answer by fax.

The fee was paid on a debit card, Monday 16th January

Cancellation

I have now sent multiple emails over a few month period now about having my subscription cancelled, but I have had no reply at all.

Money is still being taken from my account which I have now contacted my bank to stop any future payments being made.

When I try to log onto the app it says my account is suspended and has been past onto a debt recovery team..

Absolute joke.

Desired outcome: I would like any moneys returned and any future payments stopped and confirmation of debt recovery company not on my account anymore

Premium issue value

I met the c-date yesterday and when i was trying to send mensage the app was ask me for premium so i went to see how much it was. And the price was suppost to be 149kr (15€)

And i accepted and i put my credit details and then i just went to my bank balance and noticed that cdate took from me 3576 kr (350€)

Its alot of money and that money i need to my house rent.

I sent email and nobody aswer me yet.

I need to know if there is any phone number to reach them

They continue to chase for money after cancellation and pass made up debt to debt collector

I foolishly paid the monthly fee to try this site out.

It turned out to be just fake profiles and scammers to I deleted my account.

Then a few month later they said I owed £58 pounds as my subscription payments had failed. But I did not set up a subscription. Strange.

I replied to then saying that I had cancelled and to stop asking for money.

Then about 2 month later I get an email from a debt collection agency saying I must pay £158 or they will take proceedings further.

This is definitely a scam but I'm not sure what to do?

Desired outcome: I would like them regulated and fined for their scam / scare tactics that is immoral but probably quite profitable

C date website

Hi,

I signed up to your premium memerbership and I want to cancel as there are clearly no real female profiles on here, all that have matched so far have been scammers.

I want to delete and cancel my membership but there is no clear way to do it. By far the worst experience I have had on any dating app.

Please delete me from your system and cancel my membership!

Premium service

I clicked a button that required me to become a premium member to access the free side of the site. Now a few days on I cannot cancel the payements or the account. There's no reason to fax or send them a letter as they are an online company so should be able to be done via the app or website. I've sent them emails amd attempted to call their numbers which are both not in service. I want this cancelled before I go through my bank and have them blocked

I only signed up for more than a Month than chances but now CMS global collection services demanding €95.90.

This is the second time this company has tried to scam money out of me.

I never ticked to say continued membership after the first month. And I can not find any way contact them directly. Which leads me to believe they are just another scam company

Massively overcharged

I joined with a free account. I then got a notification to say there were unread messages (all generated by them) and that I could get 75% off a 3 month subscription for £9.99. I clicked the button, paid by paypal. I was then billed £119.99 and they also set up 30 consecutive automatic payments. There was probably some small print somewhere but 3 days in, I want to cancel as this is not the service I was expecting. There is no obvious way to do this and their communications are unaceptably slow when regarding this amoubt of money.

Membership not cancelled

Notified this company via email about my intention to cancel my premium membership this has been done according to their terms or service and within 14 days of renewal. After reading these complaints I’m preparing for the worst frankly. I attached a picture of the signed and printed cancellation form an emailed to the customer service team. I sent a previous email and got no reply. I will lend a letter if the worst comes to the worst.

Desired outcome: The cancellation of my premium membership as requested by my notice given to the customer service team by email.

Unwanted subscription

Tried a couple of £9.99, trials, soon realised they were fake. Next thing I'm getting messages about non payment of subscriptions. Then threatening messages about bailiffs. Finally had a debt collection company demanding payment. Have paid for now but this needs sorting.

I'm trying to cancel my premium subscription it's nearly impossible can't do online form as it says I paid £9.90 for one month didn't know it was much more after first month had it been same price I'd probably have kept membership but its far too expensive and I wish to cancel ive given requirement notice and have cancelled auto renewal

Dating website that's a scam

Don't ever use c-date dating app, sign up on a reduced trial, as soon as you've signed up you know it's a scam and conveniently you can't cancel your membership, having already lost your £9.90. wasn't too fussed about that but then trying to cancel the membership it says fax to a certain address or email. I emailed mid November - might aswell have not bothered, left numerous emails to cover myself and low and behold 4-5 weeks later I'm receiving final notices to pay the months subscription they automatically enrolled me on after my trial had ended, despite me emailing several times to cancel membership. I'm now being threatened with a CCJ against my name if I don't pay.

I've got screenshot evidence of all the emails, including ones last week and yet have all been ignored.

Desired outcome: I want my membership cancelled and the ridiculous false charges dropping against me.

Court action for not continuing membership payments

I cancelled my payment through Paypal to C-date after one month. Now they are chasing me for continued memebership payments or court action through eCollectAG for non payment of subscription which they say I signed up for. I did not sign up for continued membership and I had tried to cancel my membership online but the web site did not allow me to do that. I have now recieved a request for £239.13 by 28/12/2022 or court action. I have also reported this to "Action Fraud Police" but have had no feedback from them yet.

Desired outcome: Cancellation of the court action.

I have also replied to their original requests for payment and subsequent e-mails explaining that:

I only signed up for one month and did not sign up for continued memebership.

Their "dates" on the website are either fake or computer generated contacts.

I tried to unsubscribe but their website would not allow that action.

They did not respond to any of these issues.
